Tested some out yesterday. Using two rifles we were able to penetrate 3/4" steel plate at 50yds. Velocities were guesstimated around 2600fps.
First rifle was an M1 Garand in 30.06.
Second rifle was a CETME in 7.62 NATO.

It was kewl seeing those little holes drilled so cleanly through the steel...

I asked this same question, and was told it's perfectly legal. You are reassembling ammo, not manufacturing. You are also using it. Not selling it.

I had alot of questions at first...

General consensus is have at it.

Yep, sure are. A few pull marks on them but still work fine

Cool.  I picked up a ton of these recently.  I had been using them in my .300 whisper loads (that's the lightest bullet that cycles with subsonic loads in my AR).  But I just got this remmy 700, so maybe I should load some in .308 ....

Question for Troy.  What about making brass bullets for a handgun that will never come even close to going through a vest?  As in something with a sharp, cutting edge for better terminal performance than ball.

Thanks!

Legally, can one shoot SS109 through a AR15 pistol? I've read somewhere back in the early '90s....

Legally, SS109 is no longer concidered under federal law to be armor piercing.

So, since it is not armor piercing ammo, i don't see why you couldn't.
