If I remember right, a while back there used to be an m1 carbine chambered for a .223 wildcat based on the .30 carbine round...sounds interesting, like a PDW ahead of its time! Can anyone fill me in...

Gun Parts/Numrich Arms might carry parts for the older weapon. I think the guy behind the idea was the same guy who made the Johnson Rifle and LMG.

You mean 5.7 MMJ. To me, a spitfire is a .45 cal ugly thompson looking thingy. Its Melvin Johnson. You can buy the barrel and ammo thru Gun Parts Corp. They do have them.
