I've got a bolt action Marlin .22LR that I was cleaning last night when the rod broke off inside. It broke off right behind the safey of the rifle.

Normally, it wouldnt be a huge problem, except it's got the wire brush attached to it (which was a tight fit from the begining) since it was real dirty. Now it's stuck in there pretty good.

Any ideas on how to remove it without damaging the rifle? I cannot get a good enough grip on the rod to pull it out.

Try getting another cleaning rod insert it from muzzle end. Start gently tap on the second rod until you have enough of the old rod sticking out to grab on and yank it out.

If it wasent you CGuy I wouldnt think this mishap could happen

. You could use another 22 cleaning rod w the FAT pusher attachment to try to lightly tap it from the muzzle end till you could grasp it somehow.

First off, I wouldn't insert anything that was steel into the barrel and begin pounding on it to drive the old rod out.
What direction was the rod traveling when it broke? Did you try to reverse the brush while it was within the barrel? That's a no-no.
If the rod broke when you tried to reverse the brush within the barrel, I'd get a brass or aluminum rod, use a drill tip to create a conical divot on the end of it, and use that end to push the rod out in the original direction of travel. If the rod broke as you were pulling the brush through, then I'd try to push it out in the same direction of travel. HTH

Get a brass rod and tap it out. Prob solved...
