I preface my comments by saying that I haven't shot one of these. I have handled them and they didn't strike me as being poorly constructed. The rifle isn't designed to be a tactical rifle. It's meant to be an affordable out of the box hunting package. As such some alternative manufacturing processes were used to lower production costs and as a result end user cost. For example the pressed in barrel, saves the cost of a production step to both the barrel and the reciever. This is not really an issue since the barrel on the 710 has an integral barrel extenstion with which the bolt locks up, instead of locking to the receiver like the 700 does. I don't know, but I would guess that perhaps this would make headspacing easier as well, again lowering production costs. Also Remington literature states that barrel mounting is supposed to be permanent. Again it's supposed to be an affordable hunting package, not a tactical rifle. In saying that, there was a review of one of these in 30-06 in the August issue of SWAT. The author claims that after some break in, he was able to get .5 MOA from the porne with it. Plus it comes standard with a detachable mag, which is always nice. My impression is that if you're looking for an inexpensive way to keep the freezer stocked, this may be a good bet, but if you want a tactical rifle or a project gun, look elsewhere
