I'm looking to get a new lower for a custom build, but I'm also wanting a new handgun.

If I buy a lower is it like buying a gun...ie. ffl paperwork and all that jazz?

Or is it just like buying gun parts and no need for paperwork?

I'm in Virginia.

The lower is the gun, every thing else is just parts. All BATFE paperwork is connected to the lower.

Let me clarify the above:

In the AR family of fine firearms, the lower is the Gun

It would be better to qualify this statement to say that,  in all firearms, the RECEIVER is the gun.  In some firearms, the upper is the receiver.

Thanks that's what I thought. Just wanted clarification so I can figure out which one to buy first. We have a one gun a month deal here in Va.

It's June 20, so get the one ordered for this month, and jump in July... unless you already hit June... how retarded, if you find a good deal, you have to miss it, with that rule
