I saw a post on this quite a while ago when we all first got word of its existence...I got a new issue of Guns and Weapons for Law Enforcement yesterday and it's on the cover and there's a write up inside....looks and sounds like a great "Fun Gun"....anyone have any new info on when we may be able to get our hands on one.

Haven't seen anytime frame, but a dealer on gunbroker is already selling them back order, with delivery in 60-90 days.

I also took a peek at that magazine while waiting on my wife to buy groceries the other day. I just browsed quickly through the article, but walked away thinking the Beretta might me a neat toy to have.

Looks as though it will be a jam up little rifle. Wife already has her head set on one has her house/cqb gun. Supposed release date of August.

Yes. It is FULLY ambidextrous and all controls can be set up for true right or left handed use, including ejection. That is one of many points my wife loves about it as she is a lefty.

Great news everyone!!! I went to a dealer today that has CX-4 Storms in stock. He didn't actually have them on display but he said he has them at his warehouse right now. He will have them in his shop by this friday. Availability is not an issue, he says he has plenty in both 9mm and .45! Not sure about .40, but I will check.

The best part is the price: he wasn't sure yet but he said less than $500, most likely between $450 and $465! That's way lower than I expected. This is a dealer I trust very much. He deals in such large volumes that he can afford to give guns away at these prices.

I will post again once I actually see the guns and get a concrete price. but if anyone is interested and wants to buy one let me know via e-mail or posting here. Let's get a group buy going, that would be cool!

My e-mail is [email protected]

Thanks,
Matt

Kinda gay looking but a 5.66lb Carbine (for under $500) is very interesting.

It will except hi-cap 92FS 9mm mags?

Edited again: $650 on Gunbroker.

Boomholzer, that's a nice setup. Is she planning on putting optics on it, or she just ended up with the flip ups because she wanted the rail?

I was looking into building a Cavarms ("The blue is pretty!") for my g/f, but the Beretta might be a better bet. There should be little recoil and I can switch it to left eject for her, but if she doesn't take to it (she likes shotguns, but has been kind of lukewarm on pistol shooting) I can still use it without it being a big deal.

No, it is a work in progress. I keep tellin her to get a el-cheapo red-dot to tide her over. She is undecided on the optics. I had given her all the options I knew of. Of course, the most preferable options are >$800!

I had bought her a Cav lower but I did'nt have had it shortened from the factory so it was way too long.
In the mean time, she took favor to a 16" Bushy I had with a 7.5" LE Entry stock on it. So, I sold the Cav lower and she went that route with the Bushy shown above.

I added a adjustable AR butt-plate from CTD to my LE Entry stock. Works great! You might want to consider that if the shorty stock is too short.

Are there any hicaps available in .45??

Cosmetically, I'm not wild about it.  I don't really care for the thumbhole stock idea.  BUT, I'd really like to see what Kurt could do with 'em. (I hope he's reading this...)

I've been calling around and looking for one.

Here is the last response I got when I asked if he had some in stock:
Not yet, these are going to be hot when they come out   $579.00-$599.00
range when these hit the streets.

Anyway, noone was willing to let them go for under the price quoted above.

That guy on Gunbroker is now asking $705!

looks like a cool idea, I'll have to look into getting one since I already have a Berretta M92  mag compatibility would be great.

Hmm, I finaly see a use for all those rediculasly huge 30-rnd Beretta 92 mags made a while ago by USA mags. Time to stock up. This finaly looks like my "anime" gun.

Is everyone interested in the 9mm or chomping at the bits for the 40 - 45's?

Shooting Illustrated has an excellent three page write up with nice pictures in the July,03 issue.
I can say that i am damn impressed with the design as a am a lefty and ammo ejection has always been an issue.  Beretta made smart move by the use of standard 92 series magazines. This gun will make a perfect mate for my M9 and high cap mags 15 mags.

Looks like my plans for a HK94 clone has just been dashed by this new Beretta product. The black resign CX4 Beats the looks right out of my grey looking HK USC.

I had an opportunity to handle (not fire) a .40 CX4 on Tuesday. It is sweet!.  The gun begs for an E O Tech set up. I’m in for one in 9mm when they come out.

I would go with the 9mm just because of the mag issues.

I WOULD want a .45 version....but there aren't any .45 hicaps out there....are there?

Can't you buy a 'barrel/mag kit' to convert the gun between calibers?  I'd buy the 9mm version of the gun and wait for the +10 mag ban to sunset (please?!), then I'd buy the .45ACP parts and post-sunset mags.
Link Posted: 6/30/2003 9:59:58 AM EDT

I too would like the .45 if if carried more ammo...Inreference to the sunset of the ban and hi-cap .45 mags.....are the .45 beretta cougars single stack mags? If so, they'd have to have a pretty long mag to really get much ammo in it....I forget, but I thought they were single stack.

If they make it take 1911 mags I've seen 20rnd 1911 style mags before.....sort of a specialty thing but hey.

The only thing I don't like the looks of is the spindly little barrel. I would throw a barrel shroud or fake silencer on that right away and....in my eyes....it would look 100% better.

I'm in for one as soon as I can get my paws on one!  I have several 92s and many, MANY full-capacity magazines, or I would probably opt for the .45 - but I like handgun/carbine ammo & magazine compatibility, so it'll be 9mm for me.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that Beretta will offer a "kit" version of this rifle...that is...9mm as well as .45 components all in one snuggly little package.

Is this the case, or am I delusional?"

O.K...I just picked up the July issue of Shooting Illustrated..It has our CX4 on the cover and a good sized article in it. I must have one...as soon as possible. Anyway, we need mags right...I would like some 20 rounders, I think they would look the best. Does anyone know which work the best..Western, USA, Mecgar???? Also, are the SS Eagle 17 rounders and good...they look pretty nice and they are all over for under $20....I figur I should start stock piling mags now so I'm ready when the gun is out.

Guessing, Mecgar are probbaly the best from what u listed.

Still no CX4s to be seen.

Is the storm's accuracy going to be comparable to mini ruger at 100 yds.? The chart on page 20 shows 2 at 50 yds.

I would never use the Eagle 17 rounders under any circumstance. They are flush fit, but are held together with two metal screws fitted in the plastic base. It is a fatal design flaw and not worth the $12.00 a piece I paid for the four I bought. I could not get one to work right.
For standard 15 rnd capacity go with Beretta mags. Anything above that in 20 or 30 rnd, go MecGar if you can. I have 6 USA hi-cap mags and they haven't given me any problems with 1500 rnds through them, but the spring, body and finish of these mags is poor.

Thanks for the info....that seems to be the general concensious....everyone thinks they are junk. I won't waste my money on them. I would like to get some 20s....I haven't seen many Mecgars, but I have seen some 20rd USA mags. I had some USA 30rd Glock mags and they worked real good. I did find some 19 round mags that were supposedly made at the Astra factory for Beretta???? They might me a good unit.

In case you want to see how the SBR version should look, click this link.  6 picture links at top of page.

www.berettaforum.net/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=7;t=000090

this guy works for beretta, he has a cool site and storm photos, scroll down.
www.berettaweb.com/index.htm

if you go up and click "my photos" on the same site and scroll down, 2 good pictures of him with a CX4.  One is called a CX4 Storm Plus.  Hard to tell but may have a short stock?

I plan to get it in 9mm.  When the ban sunsets, I am going to thread the barrel.  If/when OEM high cap 45 mags hit the market, I will probably register it as an SBR and get a short .45 upper for it as well.  Of course this is assuming I am going to like this gun as much as I think I will.  I already like the price point on it!
Link Posted: 7/25/2003 9:01:54 PM EDT

Since I don't have a Beretta 9mm, I would like one in 45, but I think the mags are only eight rounds and I don't know anyone who has a Cougar 45 pistol, because I would like to know if other types of 45 mags would work with little modification.
