Holy crap I need to get out of CA. I just read something that left me pondering about the intelegence of some people. Where we live we have a local town newspaper. Some jackass wrote an article in it about his anti-gun thoughts. He said a lot of stupid things, but the worst was when he said that there was no point in owning a gun if you weren't willing to shoot another human!! All I could think of was, "What about hunting or recreation?" I was like, "This guy is a fricken commie bastard!!" If he wants to be anti-gun, thats his own fault, but I think he shouldn't write an article in a newspaper when it is obivious that he is speaking out of his butt!! He then said that he is confident that he could take control of and difuse any situation without a gun. OH BOY!! You are just so strong aren't you!! I want to write him a letter, but if I did I would have to write like 20 pages, and he wouldn't care probably. Well sorry, I just had to vent my anger somewhere!!

Maybe a stupid question, but can you write a pro-gun article and have it published in the same paper?

First off, i'm only 15 yrs. old, they wouldn't put it in. Second off, even if they did let me, there are so many anti-gun commies in my town, it would only make people more mad at me, (My teachers think i'm "evil" because I shoot guns)

S P E L L C H E C K! Intelligence!!! Now Calm yer young ass down. Please provide a link and or the article in question. Second write a coherant piece about the pro's of gun ownership (if only for practice later) you can have your Dad submit it on you behalf. Second who gives a flying poo if some liberal POS is "mad at you"? I know 15 is an awkward age and you really don't want anyone to be mad at you, but you'll learn sooner or later that you can't please them all all the time! If the guy's as queer as you describe him I don't think you'd want to be friends with him anyway. My .223

Pony has a good point.  A man is judged not only by his friends, but also by his enemies.

This is the most moronic thing i've read in a while. I'd like to run some experiments to see if he is right. Then i'd piss on his grave.

It is time for you to bust out a quality retort. Fire up the word processor, and type away. Have it reviewed by your english teacher, then revise, revise, revise, and send it in.

Heck, just post your reply here.  A bunch of us (not me personaly) have had our stuff printed on the editorial page.  The Editor will care less about your age, so don't even bring it up.  He will only care about the content of your reply.

Pony_Driver, (Sob,Sob) You don't know what it's like living in CA, being 15, and pro-gun, (Sob,Sob) Now I know my spelling was bad, but I was so mad at the time I didn't care. I can't put a link because there isn't one, it is in a (Town) newspaper. If I did write an article to put in the paper, first off, it would HAVE to be like 20 pages long. Second off, they wouldn't put it in because my town is ALL anti-gun (Except me and my family :). If I asked my dad to put it in, he would say, "You get all worked up about nothing boy!!" So, I am calm now... Breathe in... out... in... out, ahhh.

Hick Boy, I too know how frustrating it can be living in CA. Just out of curiosity what is the town paper called?

You should try to write a short letter to that paper.  They have no way of knowing your age and it isn't relevant to whether or not they use your letter.

By short, I mean 3-4 paragraphs.  Start by explaining that the Bill of Rights enumerates individual rights.

I agree with the point that you're venting on that if a person isn't willing to use a firearm then they probably shouldn't own it.  The way the guy said it was, intentionally or not, very inflamatory.  I agree with the old hippie/commie/socialist saw about "guns are only made for killing".  Yes, they are.  And that's bad how?  They're also very convenient tools for a variety of other tasks and most are just plain cool.

What about hunting or recreation?  We don't have an explicit right to either whereas owning a firearm is specifically addressed in the Bill of Rights.  Hunting falls into the same category as driving.  It's covered by the catch-all "Life, Liberty, and pursuit of happiness".

If a "liberal" was truly "liberal" then they wouldn't have a problem with people having guns.  What is typically referred to as a liberal is more correctly called a socialist, marxist or facist.  Don't let them off easy by calling them liberals, progressives or Democrats.  They're anti-freedom compromisers and appeasers that want big government to control everything.  A thinking, speaking, educated, armed, free citizen is the biggest threat to the beliefs and goals of assclowns like the one you're describing.

It's OK to disagree.  It's one of the things that keeps this country great.

Edited spelling and grammer so that I don't get points deducted!

A calm, well-written, well thought out letter addressing the editor's points will have a decent chance of getting published.

Don't mention your age.  Post a copy here and let the members review it for you.

What paper, btw, was it?

After reading the article again, I discovered something that I didn't realize before. It is kind of about having faith in God. I felt a little bad about it because I am heavily Christian. But in any case, I think the article was out-of-line. The paper is called "The Valley Sun" ProfessorEvil. BTW- would you guys like me to post the article so you can say what you think about it?

Places in recent history where tens of millions of innocent people couldn't talk their way out of a bad situation:

Nazi Germany
Russia
China
Rwanda
Vietnam
Cambodia
Korea

Mostly heavily centralized, big government socialist paradises on that list.  Many US violent crime areas exist where US citizens are deprived the right to keep and bear arms.  Most are intensely anti-gun.

Yes, post the article.

Many of us here ARE willing to shoot another person if the need arises.  Of course, that is not the ONLY reason to own a gun.

Umm, now that I looked at the article, I've decided not to post it. WAY to long. I want to keep my wrists!! Sorry.
