Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - 26mm vs 1" scope tube question?

I would like to purchase a 26mm German scope but am haveing a hard time finding mount and rings. I looked at a German ring mfg. site and their "standard" ring size was listed as 26mm/1". Was wondering if anyone could verify that these are interchangeable. Can 26mm scope be used on a base w/ 1" rings?

Europeans call 1" scopes 26mm.  Same same.

or, 1 inch = 25.4 mm
