Looking for opinions on Scopes, for an AR-15 & Mini-14 both .223. Reading the other posts I hear you get what you pay for, very true. Trying to save myself aggravation long term.

Most target shooting will be from 50 to 250 yds. What are recomendations on median priced scopes that I wont be sorry I got ?

leupold 3.5X10 VariX-III mat.  illuminated.
if you have a carry handle get an ARMS mount.
if you have a flat top get an ARMS riser.
get cam type ARMS rings.

I'd stay away from those cheap Taiwanese Leupolds.

Leupold VariXIII 1.75-6.  It is far shorter than the other scopes 2" IIRC.  It won't look like a huge tub on the top of your gun.

OR, if you are only shooting out to say 300yds a Trijicon Compact or regular ACOG.

Scopes are pretty much just like everything else. Buy a $49 scope you're gonna get $49 scope performance.

I have a Leuopold Vari X II 3x9x40 on a Remington 700BDl that I've never had a peoblem with.

I do wish that I had the $$ for the Vari X III with the 50 mm objective lens though. Collects more light, see out further.
