I've heard from a couple of different sources that dry graphite lube can harm the aluminum in ARs, is this true?

If so, what dry lube is recommended?

I've got an uncle who's been into firearms for more then 225 years. He owns about a half a million AR rifles and he recommends CLP. I trust his judgement.

What the compelling reason for not following Uncle Sam's recommendations?
