Wasn't it a scoped Remington/Keene .45/70? Not sure which model, as they had several in various lengths and configs. Something like this:

Good guess though. If I remember, it only had a half magazine and the stock was curved in the front. |

Oh sure, I rented "Crossfire Trail" when it came out and I haven't seen "Sons of Katie Elder" in many moons.
Now you're going to make me rent them both to see which gun you're talking about. You evil, evil person.

The sniper-type bad guy was using a Remington-Keene bolt action rifle. Selleck had a Winchester 76 (Cenntenial model).
