I made an AR15 hand guard removal tool myself without any welds from a single piece of 1/4 steel rod. I saw this on another site and thought that I would try it.

quartz2.cyberstation.net/~dwpaul/hgrt.htm

It's not art or a piece of wonder but it works. I have vinyl tubing covering the handles and a piece of old garden hose covering the nose. This protects the inside of the mag well.

Just heat and bend.

I was going to make 2, but I wanted to try it out first to see if it really worked. It did but I still haven't made the second one.

Is it cheaper than buying one already made- sure it is.

Is it worth the time- that's your call to make!

I was about to make one of these after reading the article, then I realized I really didn't have a problem with removing and installing the handguards.

There's no doubt it would make it easier, though.

I can remove my hand guards but this tool sure makes it easier.

Also, I just wanted to see if I could make it.
