Looks nice, but I built my own with directions from here. If you've got the time (15 minutes) build it if not, buy it. This is a better price than the one at Brownells.

New hacksaw blade, mine are always roached.

Been using a pistol cleaning rod, the kind S&W packs w/ their new guns, for years. Works fine, didn't cost a penny.

I'm sure this item will sell to those with more money than good sense. Me, I like to think I've got some sense, and I sure as hell don't have much money

. I'd rather take what bucks I do have for my hobby and buy some extra ammo or maybe another mag or two. And oh yeah, been loading AR (and AK) mags with my fingers for years. Haven't worn 'em out yet.

. No, it's more a question of having to get the job done and not having the bucks for the fancy ass tools. Same at work. As armorer for the security force at a federal agency, I often have to figure out how to get something fixed, and there ain't no fancy tool around to use, there ain't no funds to get one, and the damn gun has to be back in service in an hour and a half, or thereabouts.

Look, I've been an AR15 owner for nearly 30 years; and at one time or another I've had to do just about everything possible to my ARs. If I have a way to do something that doesn't cost anything, I'm going to share it w/the other members of the site. If they still want to spend money to do the same thing I can do for free, that's their right. The only special AR tool I own is a barrel wrench. There is nothing else having to do w/working on one that requires a special tool, tho there are some things , like pulling the handguards, that are made easier by adapting an existing tool.

Look, I have no problem with Denny trying to make a living (though I do wish he'd confine his advertising to the commercial section of the site). If he ever brings out a product that's really helpful, I'll be right in line w/ everybody else to buy it. In the meantime, if I know how to do something for free that he, or anybody else, is trying to make money off of, I'm probably going to put up a post on it.

I have no problem with your post at all. I didn't reply to it at all in any negative way.

We have been repairing, building and generally working or ARs for many years ourselves. Some handguards are especially tough to get off, some not so bad.

A tool like the HRT simply takes a job nobody likes and makes it super easy, that's all. Also saves time for the gunsmiths as you don't have to call another guy over off his job and say "okay I got the delta ring compressed how about coming over here and pulling the handguards".

There are many, many specialized tools we use here for everything from squaring bolt faces on sniper rifles to holding AR uppers while we work one them (DPMS has a new one that is great). What these tools do is make our work either easier, faster or more precise.

You ought to see all the ARs we get in here with dented, scratched, bent delta rings from some idiot cramming a screw driver or other "tool" in there to depress the ring. We charge far more than the cost of the tool at $18.95 to remove a barrel, sell the guy a new delta ring and then put it all back together again. We have also seen badly scratched receivers from a punch, screwdriver or whatever slipping while in the act of depressing the delta ring.

If a person has the $20 bucks to spend, the HRT is a good useful tool. Yeah we make money on it, that is capitalism. I am sure no one here works for free and neither do we and we don't apologize to anyone for making a living.

As to posting in the General Firearms area, it is my right as an Industry Partner to use the General area to introduce a new product in a widely read area of the Board. It gets the word out quicker on something new we have to offer than burying it in the EE or AR Maintainence area.

We feel most folks here like to know of something new. It is information.

I am sorry to hear that a Federal Agency does not supply people like yourself, in critical positions, the proper tools to get your work done, especially in these times. I don't know who you work for but we get orders for all kinds of items we sell almost daily on goverment credit cards.

All the best and I hope they buy ya some tools one of these days.
