surefire sells tip off filters for the lights they sell, one is listed as an infared filter, when using this filter does it block all light, and make it visible to night vision only?, or can anyone see it

Surefire IR filters are totally covert as far as filters go.  If you are dark adapted with a powerful light in a dark room and point it right at your eye and light it up you will see a faint red glow but noone would ever notice there were being spotted up out doors unless they had night vision.  The only way to be more covert than a Surefire filter is to go with an IR laser illuminator.  Many IR filters allow a lot of red light to come through but Surefire is about as good as they get.
