Opinion: Glock 22

I was at the fun store today and saw a Glock 22 (.40 S & W). Like new for $400. I don't know much about Glocks, so I was wondering if anyone had opinions on the price and this particular model.

I forgot to add, I went looking for a Springfield XD 40. How do these two compare?

I'm not familiar with the Springfield XD pistols but Glocks are awesome weapons, the 22 included. $400 for a like new one is not a bad price either. Specifically, the Glock 22 is nice because, 1) 15 round pre-ban factory magazines are fairly plentiful, 2) the 4.5" barrel squeezes as much velocity out of the .40 S&W round as most any other serious fighting pistol, 3) by putting in a Glock 31 barrel, you have a 357 SIG pistol to use (the mags are interchangeable 99% of the time), 4) by purchasing an aftermarket 9mm conversion barrel and Glock 17 magazines, you can shoot 9mm at the range, 5) lastly and most importantly, Glocks are extremely durable and reliable right out of the box.

As I said, I'd buy it for $400. Good luck.

I have carried a Glock 22 both on duty and concealed for years. IMO it is a great weapon, I have shot 1000's of rounds out of mind and only 1 malfunction and it was my fault.

As for the price $400 is a pretty good price. I have been told by my dealer that it is getting hard to get certain models of the Glock including the model 22 due to LE orders. If I were you I would jump on it.

I've been a SIG fan for over 13 years, but the Glock 22 spoke to me back in '93. I didn't have quite the cash (or willpower) to wait for the SIG P229 I wanted, so I picked up the G22. Ever since it's been one of my main carry guns. I did buy the P229 in '94, but I've never stopped shooting the G22.

Another vote for the G22. I love mine. It's only had about 1000 rounds through it. So far it's run flawlessly. Paid $450 NIB, so $400 for almost new sounds good to me.

I hate Glocks, but after shooting a friends' 22........I gotta get me a 23. A Glock is the only handgun w/ fixed sights I've ever fired that hit dead-on at point of aim.

I still don't like tupperware guns really, but I have to admit that they are fine pistols.

Got mine in '93. It fits me perfectly, does everything I want it to do, and has never failed, not even once.

I've gone through several rifles and shotguns but have never considered replacing my G-22.

The only problem I have is constantly explaining that the 22 does not stand for .22 caliber.

Thats not a bad price for a like new one. They are fine pistols. Accurate and reliable straight out of the box

I love the Glock 22's tremendously. If this gun is in the condition you describe, I would most certainly buy it. But I would caution you to avoid the Glocks with serial numbers that start with E. They have frame rails that can fail and break while in use. The little piece of metal could end up anywhere, which could result in a useless weapon.

I will just add that I carry mine everyday except for when it is to hot to conceal it properly. Then I fall back on my G27, which still can use the the G22 mags.

I 2nd Va-gun;
I admit that my first choice was the Glock in 45acp. Found it to be to big for my hand, so got the G22 instead, then the 27, then the 23, then the 30. Now I'm "Waiting to exhale" for the 35.

I kinda like dem Glocks

Wife owns a G22. I own an XD-40. Both fine guns. (She fired the XD, then a Glock. She preferred the Glock's grip.)

I bought SIG P229, Berretta 92, and a Glock 22 all around the same time. The only one I still have is the 22. For capacity, accuracy, and reliability, they can't be beat.
BTW, try some of the MMC adjustable night sights. They're awesome!

BTW, I got the Kel-Tec Sub2000 in Glock .40 so I can shoot it along side my G22 at the range. I carry it in my trunk with 4 10rnd mags loaded with .40 FMJ.
