I have a remington 1100 synthetic 12 gauge that I bought for my every thing shotgun.  It is the only shotgun I own.  The original plan was to have this thing do every thing and abuse it.  The reality is that I shot mostly trap with it and don't want to abuse it at all.  I like the light recoil and the fact that it is a semi.  I bought it NIB for $550 at a local vender.  So is there any thing that is similar to my remington 1100 in 12 gauge that is cheap for out door use that I wont care if it gets all smashed up and abused.  The cheaper the better, and it doesn't have to be a semi.  Thanks all who respond with good advice.

here is my list, in order of preference.  Inxpensive pumps only.

1. Mossberg 500

2. Remengton 870

3. Winchester 1200

I would rather buy a used Ithaca if one is available.

I made this list based on the brands I see in my shop for repair.  I see more Win. than Rem, more Rem. than Moss., etc.

an 870 is exactly like the 1100 but is a pump. don't spend more than $200

or you can get a 11-87 as an upgrade and use your 1100 as a field gun.

or get the 11-87 special purpose and use it as a field gun.

Years ago I bought a Mossberg 500 for sea duck hunting because it was cheap.  I knew I wouldn't be too upset if it fell overboard.

You can also get the Mossberg 835 Ulti-Mag. I have seen them around for about 250.00 - 300.00. They shoot 3 1/2 mags too.

I've had a Mossberg 500 for 20 years and have absolutely beat it to death and it's still going strong.

Yes, WallMarts still sell the Beretta AL390 for $529. It has a black synthetic stock. I bought one and its the equal of any Beretta AL390 with wood, actually better for your purpose. It comes with a 28" barrel and three chokes, Improved, Mod, and Full. The AL390 is a proven shotgun, many clays events have been won with them and they have proven themselves reliable in the field.

A used 870, can find them for $125 - 150 and if you really look under $100. Easy to fix up and plenty of options.

Ditto for the 870. You will find them scarce as used, low priced guns this time of year, but the $200 Express is just as good for your purposes.

Mossy 500 I shot mine until it rusted apart.  I never cleaned it and never cared about it and it lasted many years.

I've got a Win 1300 that has been to hell and back and not one problem out of it, ever. It's been through the mud, rain, sand and just keeps going. It has been abused.
