I know the SKS rifles that accept AK mags are grouped into 3 catagories:

1)  SKS - D  : pre-ban model w/ 20" barrel and spike bayonet

2)  SKS - M  :  post-ban SKS 16" paratropper, no bayo, Monte Carlo stock

3)  SKS sporter thumbhole stock - basically same as a SKS- M but came with the thumbhole sporter stock.

I own a SKS-M and have found a SKS-D that is supposedly a pre-ban.

Is there anything on the D models that I should look out for ?

Were there good and bad model D's ?

The one I am looking at has a light brown SKS stock that looks more like the normal SKS style stock.  It also has the spike bayonet.

Any info would be appreciated before I make my purchase =)

Thanks, Tim
