Besides the barrel (obviously), what needs to be changed to convert a Mauser 98k from 8mm to .308win? Thanks in advance, fellas.

Only the barrel has to be changed. The trick in changing the barrel is to make sure the case head is enclosed (barrel to bolt gap is small). This prevents case head blowout (destroyed gun & injured shooter) because it isn't properly supported.

why not just buy an israeli 98, they're already chambered for .308.  that way, you're not ruining a piece of history.
