I have receently bought a M1A. I can get one of these scopes with m14 mount in excellent cond. Fill me in on this baby. Clarity and how far out can you see clearly. Rugedness basically the whole kit-n-kaboodle. All help is greatly appreciated as I do not want to waste my hard earned cash. THANKS!!!!

These are Vietnam-era technology, huge, heavy, and only effective out to 50 yards or so.

NV has come a LONG, LONG way since then, but you definitely get what you pay for in this area.

I'd pass on the PVS2.I had one.They are built like a brick shithouse,but extremely heavy (6-7lbs. IIRC,which makes use with a bipod almost mandatory),and not really useful beyond 100yds (depending on moonlight/"starlight"...no IR illuminator on these).If you plan on doing alot of night shooting,save up and get a 2nd or 3rd Gen. sight.
