Call me ignorant. I'll take both, shorty for upclose and personal and the full grown one for get em' from afar. IMO.

I'd take the shorty..... no surprise with this vote given my screen name.

I do like them both, but the carbine/RAS/ACOG is just my preference.

I'd take the 20"

Shorty.

I have a 20" and have come to realize its a bit LONG for tactical type stuff.  The popular consensus is a shorty is viable to 300 yards, that's much more than I'll ever have to shoot in anger.  I'd love to try a shorty some day and see how they compare.

Ok, then it will be.........................
the short one wins my total affection, send it right away.

20" RIFLE.

It's more versatile for FUN, and will still save your life.
If you find it is too long, step back a couple of inches or tuck the stock under your armpit and spray&pray...

Get funky with it!

the shorty

The shorty for sure. Maybe because I own a 20" already. Maybe I could cheat and have a 20" and buy another upper in short.

Would that still be considered one gun? I would have to check with the legality of that with the gun regulator in my household, my wife!

If I can only have one and I have to trust my life to it.I would have to take the one that has the MAG. in it, and hope its got some rounds.

The Shorty for me too.  And if he doesn't want it, you can ship it to me.

The shorty.

Not big into "space guns" that aren't chrome lined.

Just not my thing.

I'd take the shorty.  I've got an SR-25 for distance work.:D

Shorty with ACOG... you could damn near do the same job as the 20", with a lot of other uses as well.

Shorty for me.

I vote for BOTH. I own a Colt CAR-6724 with 24 inch barrel and a Bushmaster 16 inch V-match. Why choose when you can have both. Truly, I own both for differnt purposes. As some know, I'm a varmint shooter first & formost. The long barrel is great, but in the deep dark woods of western Oregon the 16 inch comes into it's own. I'm keeping my eyes open for a 20 V-match, at a great price. I just turned a bud onto a 16 in V-match with removable carry handle for $450.00. Shoots like a millon bucks.

My choice is the 16in ACOG on the flat top upper with the free float hand guard. Sorry, didn't mean to take them apart.

shorty is comfortable to wield and easy to carry, and has a generaly more handy feel to it

20 has a great nestalgic, full sized military rifle feel to it. generaly I find more uses for it. still a light and hand rifle and makes a great scoped rifle. not to mention sometimes you just wanna shoot a rifle, and not a carbine.

point being, get both.

I personaly own a prebe a3 shorty and a post ban a3 20 with a jewel trigger.

ps according to the batf the only part they look at as being a fire arm is the lower. since you can't attach both uppers at one time (and wouldn't it be funky if you could)it is still considered one firearm.

I would have to take the shorty also....but to get it set up the way I would personally use it, I would lose the vertical grip and the optics. I like mine plain jane without any toys.
Link Posted: 10/13/2002 8:56:18 AM EDT
[#32]
Mount that optic HIGHER on the shorty.

That way you could shoot from the hip!

i vote for the second one in then pic

Shorty.
I prefer to move and shoot from the three major positins more than I like to sit still or bench shoot.  However, both are nice.

I'd go with the top one, the 20" minus the flash hider.
