Cavalry Arms Ar-15/Cav-15's? Opinions?

I am new to the AR-15 world and want to aquire one. I never heard of Cavalry Arms till I decided to get an AR-15. I have done some research and am interested in this gun. Anyone have an opinion on the gun and I sure would like to see the pics where the lower was run over by the truck. I am a two time Glock owner so a polymer lower interests me.

I like mine. I built it up from a kit and had no problems getting it together. I did have to remove some material from the inside top of the buffer tube before my bolt would quit binding, but aside from that, no issues.

I think the butt trapdoor seems a little flimsy, but I can't see this having major repercussions.

LOVE IT! I couldn't be happier with mine. I bought the stripped OD lower and put it together with a Bushmaster parts kit. The upper is a Bushmaster A3, with a 14.5" heavy fluted barrel and a permanently installed Mini-Y comp. The optics are an Aimpoint ML2 in a Railgrabber mount and sit on the GG&G scout rail with A2 BUIS. I also swapped out the standard handguards for the OD Cav-4's. That's the best description I can give; I need to figure out how to post pics.

It's a great rifle and has received many comments to the positive. It's definitely something different.

I'm in deep sh!t and I'll explain later...

This is my CavArms 2001 LEGP lower with the new Bushy Ultralight 16 upper...

...the way it was yesterday...

...and the way it is today.

Wes Grant from MSTN shipped the GG&G mount and rear sight overnight and it got here today! Couldn't wait to set it up to shoot this weekend.

So I took the Aimpoint off Miz Arock's favorite Model 41 pistol and put it on the CavArms. While she is in West Texas for a week with our three kids.

She's coming back Sunday. She's gonna throw my ass in the doghouse.

Wonder if she'd take an OKO in trade?

OK, alot of you know I am BIASed towards cav arms because of my afiliation with them. well, just like I am sure glock got tired of hearing "IT IS A PLASTIC GUN"...so am I.

So, I am putting one of my own PERSONELL weapons on the line here.....

One Cav 15 stripped receiver VS one 1996 Saturn SL1 on a concrete floor!!!!!

the results.....

a little dirty, a little scuffed, but still perfect. no cracks, tears, splits, chips, nothing....

I think the pictures say it all, don't you....

I will be happy to computer guy....Since my camera can do short videos, I will complete the lower, take it into the desert, run over it, pick it up, put a upper on it and fire it. I then expect you to be the first in line to buy one....

The synthetic receiver is very light weight and very accomodating to custom paint schemes.

My 14.5" lightweight upper w/CAV-Comp brake and AimPoint on a CAV-15 green lower.

I painted the lower to give it that "classic" look. This is one sweet-shootin' rifle!

Go to their website and look around. Last I saw, there was a copy of that magazine artical on the website. www.cavalaryarms.com The author of the story used Armalite parts and upper (if I recall). Take a gander at the story.

The CAV-15 was my first AR type weopon. I compare just about ever AR type to it, even the 'traditional' AR's (ie aluminum receiver). I like the longer butt stock and the pistol grip. I've got more then one since I love em so much. And the cutomer service is great.

You might want to write to ILove2Shoot directly. He had a couple of his personal lowers for sale a couple of days ago. They were slight blems but a good bargain.

I have a couple of their lowers and I believe in the product. I think the best feature of the lowers is the company behind them. They make a good product at a good price and stand behind their work.

You can't replace the pistol grip or stock. They're comfortable enough for me, so I don't consider this a problem. As ken_mays said, the trap door is a lot looser than the standard one. I consider this to be a feature, not a flaw. I might have reservations about using that trap door if I stored the 3lb lead wight there and would be in danger of losing a foot if it came open accidentally, but I actually like being able to open and close it easily without using tools or having to push really hard with my fingers.
