I going to purchase an older Colt scope tomorrow (it is a real Colt).  I don't know if it's 3X or 4X, or even when it was made.

Is there some way of finding out?  Also, the reticle consists of a single post hanging from the TOP.  What's the reason behind that?

Thanks!

Where did you find the Colt scope? I have a cheap Leapers clone ( which works fine for plinking), but it has very short eye relief and very thick reticles. I've never seen a Colt up close. I always wondered what the reticle looked like. Are you sure the post hangs from the top? I'm not sure that would jive with me.
