Anyone own anything in this caliber?  From what I have seen its comparable to the .338 Lapua.  Is that correct?

Check your mail. I had saved the January 2001 Guns Magazine cover story about the Remington 700 Sendero SF in .338 Remington Ultra Mag on my hard drive last year. I could not get the entire page to send, so all you get is the text. Sorry.

Got it, thanks.  Was the .338 Sendero something you were looking into?  I wonder how hard it would be to have it converted to .338 Lapua Magnum?

I just bought a Sendero in .338 RUM from FMJunkie.
(Price was just too damn good. Couldn't pass it up)

26" Stainless Fluted, Kevlar Stock, yadda yadda.
Range Report on it next week when my dies and brass arrive, and I can crank out a few to stretch'er out with...

Just rebarrel it. I believe the overall case width is greater for the RUM than the Lapua, so rechambering is a no-go.
The RUM series is based on the .404 Jeffery series of cases. They are huge, and can handle the rebarrel.
But the real question is WHY would you want to buy a .338 RUM and convert it?
Just buy s SAKO TRG-S in .338 Lapua and be donw with it.
Or an Armalite AR30 in .338 Lapua...
The 338 RUM and Lapua are both damn near balistic twins...
I went with the RUM because Remington is very good about making brass available at reasonable prices once the round recoups a little profit.

Thanks for all the info guys.  According to everything else on the net the RUM is about equal or in some cases better than the Lapua.  I went to Sportsmans Warehouse today and dropped a chunk of cash on it.  Should be interesting to shoot.  It comes with a 1/10 twist barrel so the 300gr Sierra's shouldnt be a problem.  I cant wait.

McUzi, do you have any pics of yours?  Be sure to post your range report.
