I have a lead on 2 preban Colt Ar-15 sporters new in the box for 1895 Ea. Is this excessive or not? Also the sames guy has an SP1 for 1595.00. No idea as to the shape of the SP1. Worth it or not.

Stay away from the SP1.

I paid 1500.00 for my Sporter Pre-ban in January.
It looked as good as new.
See if you can talk him down.

Did you check the Equipment Exchange?

Why stay away from the SP1?

I like SP1s.  I would get another in a minute.  1595 for a SP1 seems a bit high but other than that I would be interested in another.  I would check the equipment exchange.  I would get a sporter or a SP1 if the price and quality were right.

For a NIB pre-ban, $1895.00 is on the high side, but it is not outrageous.

It's worth the money. Prebans will do nothing but go up and up and up in price; the same way machine guns have done in the last 16 years. Now,folks will say, "That all depends on a new Assualt Weapons Ban in '04." There WILL be a new one, you can count on it. However, like gr8vfr said, see if you can talk him down.

No reason to stay away from an SP1. I just got one, made in '72, and it doesn't have a scratch on it, I would laugh at someone if they offered me $1595 for it.

Just my 2 cents worth, which ain't much.

Last year I bought a SP-1 from a dealer, at a gunshow for $1000 tax included, that's about $935 !
I think I got a hell of a deal.
