Some barrels don't have the gas compensator which allows you to fire the lighter field loads. I know  the factory slug barrels, as well as some Hastings barrels, are only designed for heavy loads. Could this be the problem? I have the standard 11-87 that shoots everything I put through it. I keep the mag tube "wet" with CLP, which allows the piston ring to slide effortlessly. Also, it makes it very easy to clean after a long shooting session.
