Same here, I remember buying a HK 93 back in 1986 and about died for having to pay $500 for it, same for an HK 91 at $525 and an FNC for $475.00, all NIB.

I thought I really screwed up paying $1050 for an FN FAL Para in 1987.

Now the bad news, traded them for other deals along the way with the thinking "well I can always get another"...like hell. Before I knew it the ban was here and prices were way out of reach. At the time, I was more into pistols and hunting rifles.

Now all I have is pictures of days gone. I will NEVER sell any of my guns again because you never know when "too late" has come.

Oh boy, did I get ripped off! I bought one of those mint last year for $1700 bucks.. :( Get this it even came with the a3 stock... :) Too bad we can't go back in time and snap up all these cool cheap weapons.. :)

Actually, I think I ripped the guy off with that price based on the going rate for the gun.. *snicker*

And don't forget for a few hundred dollars more you could have it registered and converted to select fire. Yeah, those were the days alright.

I purchased my 93A2 back in '89 for $699.95 - I think I still have the hangtag from the dealer somewhere.

To think, I went there to purchase an AR but was steered towards the 93 by the salesman.

When I finally did purchase a preban AR a few months later it was a Colt R6601 - $725

Excuse me fellas, I think I'm going to go cuddle the 93 now <sob!>

I remember in the late '80s I always used to open Western Outdoor News and see the Turner's Outdoors ads that listed HK91s and HK93s for just over $400. <sigh>

A coworker of mine when I was living in Santa Barbara bought his Steyr Aug for 600 bucks in the 80s. Ugh. Another friend bought a used CAR for 250 bucks in 1985. Of course I figured I would freeload of them and could always get my stuff later. Then 1989 hit. Crap.

Check out this HK retail price list, effective October 1, 1976.

HK91 A-2 - $345

I was in the service back then and as I recall, that was about a month's pay.

I paid $450 for my 94 in '85, paid another $350 to have it converted to full auto. Ahh, those were the days. :)

I often dream about going back in time and finding the young me and telling him to go buy some Microsoft stock and what ever cool guns I could get, An AR would be at the top of the list followed by an HK

I bought a Colt SP1 new back in 78' for $290.00...and I am still shooting it.

I spoke with a N.C. dealer in early 1994 that had put all his profits in Colts' AR's - he had an average cost of less than $400 and had over 450 Colts' AR's in stock. Talk about timing- the right timing.........

My first gun took about 2 months, the HK took less than 30 days. I sent a copy of the first with it, dont know if it helped, but it seemed to. By the way, I paid $225 for a brand new Colt SP1 in 1974. Remember to tell yourself.

I got my first HK in '86, a P7M13 for $575, and that was a lot of money for a pistol back then. The paperwork in '86 was the same as I recall, except at that time there was a two week waiting period for handguns in CA, IIRC. I bought most of my stuff privately through other Marines while in the service.
