I'm trying to make my mind up on my next rifle.
Now Im thinking about an Armalite AR - 10A2 Carbine

Or building an AR 7.62 x 39. with Colt parts.

The bad thing about the 308 is its more expensive for ammo and mags.

While the AR in a 7.62 x 39 is a little cheaper for ammo, I will probably pay $40 to $50 permag.
VS $85 per mag for the Armalite 308 mags.

What do you guys think about these two choices ?
Thanks

Get both, of course.

Get the ten first.

I don't know about you but 7.62 X 39 parts are getting harder and harder to find and more and more expensive. I say go for the 7.62 X 39, the AR10 will always be around after your done and you can save up to get it too.

Get the 20" AR-10A2, remove the brake, crown the barrel. The perfect .308 auto. If you dont like it, I'll purchase the upper for a significantly reduced cost .

besides brakes inhibite bump firing.

I'd get the Armalite. I just got an AR10A4 flattop and its a nice rifle, a bit LOUD though.

Unless you do most of your shooting with iron sights, please consider the ArmaLite A4 flattop.

(You might also consider buying an Eagle Arms (ArmaLite) lower and building your .308 ???)

A smuch a I love ARs (and I've got a safe full of them) if you want a 7.62x39 gun, buy an AK.

Go for the AR-10. And if you want a blaster 7.62x51, pick up a CAI FAL; cheap gun, cheap mags, get it to run and it will work forever.

I'll second that.

Just bought an AK after thinking about this one myself. A couple of trips to the AK forum led to the gun store. $450.00 later I had a Romainian SAR1 7.62X39 and a 1000 rounds of wolf and one ten round mag, one forty round mag and five thirty round mags.

I have two AK's right now. This was my reasoning behind getting an AR in the
7.62 x 39 cal. My thought was to keep myself
within 3 calibers, .223, 7.62 x 39, and 9mm.
Then I can set up the AR's to shoot all three cal's.

I'm a big bump fire enthusiast so I like to go through the ammo.
