What is the most popular AR15 configuration with the folks at this site (I'd make a poll but I I'm listing too many types... and I don't know how...)?

1. Full size 20" Milspec A2
2. M4-gery
3. Old school 20" SP1, SP2 or M16A1
4. Old school CAR-15A1 with big flash hider
5. Heavy Barrel Target / Varminter Special
6. DCM
7. 9mm or Pistol Caliber
8. A two-tone mutt that has bits from 'em all
9. Class III rock and roll (flavored with one of the above configurations)

Chime in, I'm really interested in seeing which way this thing breaks...

I myself vote for old school SP1, SP2 as I own more of those than the others. I cut my teeth in basic on an "old timer" M16A1 and the feeling just hasn't gone away...

Given my screen name, I don't think a reply is really necessary.

It doesn't get much more "Old School" than this, 1964 Colt AR-15 SP-1.

This is what a 5.56mm rifle is supposed to weigh.  A A2 H-Bar weighs almost as much as a FN FAL.  I also think that the 20" barrel is what you get the best results from for the little 5.56.

I DO like the material that the A2 buttstocks and handguards are made out of though.

A2 Carbines sale better that the others(new and used)
Some of the buyers must be here,1+1=2
Most people may very well have A2 carbines more that other types.

Not a vote for would "should" be most popular, just speculation:
I guess that for many, the 20" A2 is the first AR, and that a flat top upper is the next option.
If one begins with an M4', then I think that the first option is optics.

I wonder, for how many is the AR a first rifle, aside from a .22 or BB gun. . .

Allright! Man after my own heart!

Seems this question is pulling towards the M4s and the Full Size A2s, but then again they are the current kings.

I've never been one for what's "popular",
I like them all and plan to one day have
one of each. Right now I've got an A3 20"HBAR,
a Pre-ban CAR-15 and an A2 14.5" w/AK Brake.
My next will be a Dissipator, then a Preban M4gery, then.........
