I'm looking to buy a new rifle. American Spirit Arms CAR 16" post-ban or Cavalry Arms. I have an old Colt AR15 SP1 that I don't want to shoot up. How are both companies in making the rifle and customer service? I want to buy locally and to support them. Thanks

I have no real experience with any of them but I was always told that ASA were junk and the guys on the board from Cav Arms are pretty cool.

Why would a Colt get "shot up," when there are Freshly made  Parts to drop in and fix any problems that come up???????????

Out of those 2, I'd go with Cav Arms.
I'm not a big Colt fan, but I doubt any harm will come to it by shooting it.
They are quality rifles. Are you just wanting to collect it?
I'd also look into Rock River Arms & Bushmaster.

~Enjoy!

Your not going to find many fans of ASA on here.  Try Rock River, or Bushmaster.  If you just have to buy locally for some reason buy Cavalry Arms products.  ASA products are crap plain and simple and there is no customer service.

Actually, I have built a few ASA AR rifles and they were all great shooters.  However, their customer service is what really sucks.  If you ever have a problem they are often abusive and of no help.  I would not buy a complete rifle from them, but have no problems with their kits.  However, I fix any problems myself and leave them outa it.

Cavarms I hear rocks!

The Cavalry Arms guys are cool.  They stand behind their products.  I've built rifles from an ASA kit (on a DPMS lower) and Cavalry Arms lowers (on miscellaneous uppers).  I haven't had any problems with either.  I've never had any problems with ASA myself, but have seen many complaints.  I haven't had any problems with Cavalry Arms either, but I'm confident that they'd bend over backwards to help their customers.  If you haven't met the Cavalry Arms guys or held one of their rifles, go to the next gun show and check them out.

I currently work in Scottsdale,AZ and I had the unpleasant experience of actually walking into ASA and "chatting" with the jerk,er, salesperson that was working there that day. Suffice to say, it's the kind of place I'd recommend to someone that I really didn't like. Though I personally have zero experience with Cav Arms, I've seen a lot of positive comments here about them. I'd buy one of their weapons.

Go with the Cav, I have one and soon to have more, great product, great follow up service and no hassle. The guys are friendly and easy to get ahold of by email if you have a problem too.

I live in Chandler, Arizona what part of Arizona do you live in. I found a Bushmaster XM15E2S M4 Type Post Ban Carbine for under $900 at two stores in the east valley. Is that a good price?
I want to keep my Colt in good working order and shoot the heck out of the new rifle.

Well I live near Chandler Blvd. and Rural.
What shops did you find the Bushmasters at? If you want the Fake Telestock thats more than likely your best bet. But if you want to build your own I would highley recomend you buy a Cav lower from Shawn and slap your own upper on it. I have 2 ASA uppers one A2 and one flat top. Never had a problem with either. The A2 is on my Cav, and the flattop is on my Bushmaster M4gery.

I cant be of much help with a Pre-Ban M4. But call the shop and Shawn may be able to track one down for you.

Or are you looking for a PreBan Upper?

It is probably told in detail in the "CruiseAmerica" thread.  The gist of it is they rented a deluxe motor coach from CA and it broke down.  When they called for assistance, CA said to just get a taxi and they would refund the rental $.  Cav Arms said they couldn't do that as they were a Class III mfr. carrying a load of MG's.  CA said to sit tight.  They then called the Oklahoma State Police who responded with the equivilant of a SWAT team, guns drawn, apparently assuming the worst.  This made for a tense situation while the paperwork was verified.  When it was determined our guys were "legit" they were able to buy the above-pictured "cruise wagon" and proceed to the BRC where Garryowen had his first drink of alcohol on Sat. night.  There may be more details, but I should be pretty close.  All in all, they were great guys, good sports, and THEY BROUGHT NSFJOJO, our pet f*****g monkey, to amuse us.

Absolutely hilarious!
