Just a few days ago I received a CMP Mossberg 44, and while it seems to be in pretty good shape for a military surplus arm, it's in dire need of some TLC.

After wiping off the goo that it was vacuum packed in, cleaning deposits from all of the external surfaces, removing light rust from various parts of the action, cleaning out the barrel and washing the stock (Murphy's Oil Soap), I'm having a really hard time getting several dark spots off of the bolt.

Can anyone point me to some bolt disassembly instructions so I can use a more powerful rust remover without worrying about damaging chemicals getting trapped in various nooks and crannies?

It's easy. You simply un-screw the back section of the bolt. It will come off, the striker spring and striker(aka "firing pin") will easily come out.

Let me know how it goes...

That is just how it is done.  I wrap some electrical or masking tape on the back part and use the rubber jaws in the vice.  There is always good advice and pictures in the small bore forum at jouster.com
