Is the Leupold 3x9 Varipower 2 with an Armalite 1 piece mount a good setup for the AR10/A4 rifle. I don't plan to shoot beyond 300 yards.

A 3-9x40 Leupold Vari-X II in the Armalite mount should be fine for what you want. I use a Swift 6-18x56 and a Leupold Vari-X III 4.5-14x50, both in Armalite mounts, on mine. I just happen to prefer the higher magnigication.
I would suggest that you consider going to a 10x magnification at least if you really want to 'pinpoint' you shots out at 300. But, IMHO, you would be able to shoot just fine with the 3-9. Hope that helps! |

OK thanks, I'll start with the 3x9 since I already have that. After I get over the cost of the rifle, I 'll look for a scope with a little higher magnification...ECS

I have a Tasco super sniper 10x42 on my ar-10a4 with the one piece mount and it works great, I dont shoot past 200 yards though.

How is that Tasco Super Sniper? Thats the one I am thinking about getting. I am going to use iron for awhile. I need to get good with iron before I go to a scope.

I really like it, I use it as my Police Sniper platform. The glass is as clear as any sub 1000 scope I have seen, I put the gun/scope through alot of abuse/handeling to make sure it was a realiable system and it came through like a trooper.

I "believe" DonR has the Super Sniper on his AR-10(TC) carbine and really likes the set-up. |
