Hello

I bought a Colt AR15 Sporter back in 1974-1976 before I went into the service. The AR has 5 digit serial number and an "X" stamped after it. I was told this reciever was marked for Military and Law Enforcement? Does anybody know why I have a reciever stamped with an "X" after the 5 digit serial number? I need an expert and AR15.COM must be the place to go.

And does anybody know where to go to find out when it was made and where it was made?

Thank you all for the help!!!!!!!!!!!
