I just want to get some input on this. I have told people that only an FFL holder can ship a handgun through the USPS and they have told me nobody is permitted to do that, I'd like to here what you have to say.

Joe Sixpac can ship long guns through USPS. You have to be licensed to ship and receive handguns through USPS. About a third of the handguns I get come from USPS...

You are right and they are wrong.  You can get the form from http://www.titleii.com click on forms.  Only for dealers/manuf.

TommyBrown seems to have the definitive answer...

I've always heard "No"...no one is allowed to ship handguns via the Post Office.  However, the last one I bought was shipped to me that way, so I guess they followed the procedures that TommyBrown provided a link for.

Walk into the PO with your FFL,fill out a form, leave a copy of the FFL and you may ship any firearm.
I just got home from sending a Python out from there.
