Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - 18" VS 20" 10/22 aftermarket BBL?

Does two inches really make any difference? (no jokes!)
I was told the 18" Butler creek barrels used to be 20" but they screwed up the crown then cut it down.
I don't see the advantage to using a shorter barrel on a heavy target rifle.

you are going to get arguements for both sides. in actuallity the 22LR hits is Max velocity somewhere around 17" if I remember correctly. now, you are not going to loose that much velocity with a 20" barrel. There is also the arguement that the extra length helps stabilize the bullet.....

I have a 18" on my 10/22 my brother has a 20"....6 of one, half a dozen of the other.

I agree with Shoot

You will get the highest velocity at 16-18", so the 20" will likely not get much better performance.
