Shot my first 4 match's today. I made the decision this year to shoot left handed instead of right. I'm right handed but left eye dominant. I get a much better sight picture left handed. Overall..I'm pleased.
Our matches were shot at 200 meters and 100 for the last match.
Match 1 is 2 sighters and 7 on score prone from 200 for a possible 35. I shot 28/35.

Match 2 is 2 sighters 10 on score sitting at 200 meters shooting at a fig. 12/59 target, which is exposed over a 4 foot front for 3 seconds per exposure.
The wheels fell off my cart here because I didn't take the time to practice sitting.

Match 3 is 200 meters rapid shooting at 2 figure 11 targets. 2 sighters, 10 on score.
You start at the standing alert position and go prone when the targets appear. Your fire 5 rounds at either target. The exposure time is 20 seconds for 5 rounds..targets down. You go back to standing alert, then prone when the targets appear and fire your last 5 rounds.

Match 4 is 10 rounds standing from 100 meters at the figure 12/59 over a 4 foot front with a 3 second exposure time. You start prone at 200. the targets appear for approx 3 seconds. This is your signal to get up and run to 100 meters. The targets will reappear in 35 seconds for the first 3 second exposure. In between each 3 second exposure you have to go to the alert position which means breaking your sight picture and dropping the barrel to a 45 degree angle. The sides fell of my cart on this one. Although I only had 5 hits on target..they were in a tight group.

One minor problem I had was..a new shooter beside me who was using a H&K 91. It wasn't the difference in the noise between the H&K and the AR's but the damn things throws the brass out at 2 o'clock..which was right across my line of sight. Just enough to distract me for awhile. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
I must say..it was great to get back into it.

quietshoez..it's a 2 hour drive from my house to this range. Most of the club members live close to this range so the few who live away get to drive. Oh-well..small price to pay.

Yes the range is very nice. It's standard military pattern. Any I have been on are identical except for building locations.
We had a 1000 meter military range in my home town but the area behind the backstop started to get inhabited by houses and screwed up the template..so they closed it down!

Actually the closest house is well over 400 meters off to the right of the backstop..through woods so thick the rabbits carry machete's. Typical gov't screw up. Oh well.
