I'm buying this rifle from the Ammoman (thanks for the great price, Eric!).
  I'm trying to figure out what twist it would have. I tried Colt's website, but all it listed were HBARS, not lightweight's like mine. Can you tell from the pics and the model? |

I'm guessing it will be 1/7, like most Colts. This would stabilize the heavier, more accurate rounds better as well.

I'm hoping for the 1/9, since I shoot 55grn almost exclusively. On the chance that it is a 1/7, how does the faster twist affect accuracy with the lighter round?

I have a Match H Bar with a 1/7 twist. never had any problems shooting 55 grain bullets. If the barrel is original it should say the twist rate on top just in fron of the front sight.

It should say the twist on the outside of the barrel

I own the same rifle and the twist is not on the barrel. I thought it was a 9 twist but that might be my other Colt. It is either a 7 or a 9 as was said before.
I shoot lighter bullets quite a bit in fast twist barrels and see no great loss of accuracy. Personally, I would rather have a faster twist to be able to utilize more bullet weights. |
