Ok, I got a Simmons on my AR & a BSA on my AK. After seeing everyone with those $300+ C-Mores and OKOs and Kobra sights, I'm feeling "Dot Envy". I'm thinking of blowing the wad on an OKO for my AR and the Kobra for my AK, but my question is: Should I? The Simmons & BSA work great for what I do, I'm not a Competition shooter or a Hunter, just enjoy shooting for fun. Should I do it and why?

My Bushy:

If it ain't broke, don't spend hundreds of dollars on it. Buy a new SAR-1 instead. Or just give me $300+ dollars.

That's what I kind of feel too, but is there any benefit to the OKO over what I have? What am I missing out on besides a more "Combat Rifle" look?

Unless you're going to be abusing your rifles, don't waste your money.  You stated that your dots work great for you, so why change?  You'll pick up durability and some other little benefits, but will you need it?

Spend the money on another gun or upper, you'll appreciate it more!

The only complaint about my dots are the fact that the veiw can shift if I don't look thru them the same way each time. Is that the Parallux (spelling?) issue? Is that the benefit of the more expensive dots, that the "shifting" is corrected?

I've never used a dot sight, but my understanding is that the Aimpoint is parallax free, meaning its not sensitive to your head position.  I think most of the holo-sights aren't parallax free, but I'm not sure.

Here's the $40 simmons on my AR-10 and the $500 Aimpoint "Super Combo" Comp M2 from S.W.F.A. on my Bushy:

I swear, at 100 yards, I can't tell the difference and neither can any of my friends.  I console myself by remembering the Aimpoint has a 1000hr battery life and will go 80ft under water, although I have yet to test either condition.

You want to put the img tag in brackets, then the adress of the picture, then close the img tag with /img...

You could always get the new Kobra which is meant for flat tops and use it on both. Should be <$150.

Hi  Whats the Model# of the Simmons???   I have a $30.00 Tasco Red dot Very fine(small) Dot.. And then i have the Armson OEG.  No Batteries, No switch, Always On,  Works at night.  The Dot sights are great for hitting moving targets. OEG claims being able to hit a man every time out to 250 yds.

Ok, I was at a gun show today and got what I think was a good deal on an ATN Ultra Sight ($140). I know my Simmons worked fine, but I really liked the sight and the different reticals (4) to switch around. Any opinions?
