After a 8 year hiatus from having anything to do with guns (I was burned out), I'm back. Upon finding AR-15.com I feel at home. I look forward to getting up to date and hope to be able to contribute if I can reactivate those brain cells where I have cached the info of long ago. I invested 12 years in the gun industry (specializing in paramilitary weapons as we called them in those days) and 10 years in the Military (active and NG), so I do have a little bit of a base to draw on for giving a humble opinion. At one point in the military I was even an instructor for OCs for the M-16, M-60, M-203, M-2, and demolitions.

While at one time I personally owned over 50 prebans in my collection, circumstances changed and I was forced to narrow down to my personal favorites.

After 8 years it time for a few upgrades!

Ha! I can see where one might draw that conclusion but actually it was a business partner embezzling >$100K and a simultaneous divorce. I just threw a good coat of oil on all the guns I wanted to keep and into a vault they went. Only to be open last month for the first time in 8 years. It was almost like Christmas.

I am still a commissioned officer in the US ARMY IRR and legally own my toys, thank you very much.

Does anyone have any ideas on the current values of these?

Top is Colt 3X NIB.
Middle is a Steiner 4x24 for an HK-91 complete w/case, tools, and STANAG mount.
The bottom is a Schmidt and Bender 1.5 - 6x .308 sniper reticle on a HK 30 mm mount.

I'm not interested in selling, only curious for insurance values.

Welcome back brother, this time it's hopefully for good. I told my old lady im only trying this marriage thing once. If this one doesn't work out it's back to being a full time pimp!!

They are like their contemporaries in European optics, Swarovski, Steiner, Zeis, in that they far exceed a US comparable optic offerings.
When I was in the gun industry it never ceased to amaze me when a customer would want to put a $30 B-Square mount with a $40 Bushnell scope on a $1200 (market value at that time) HK-91.
Europeans traditionally spend more or as much as the weapon costs on optics, while a US buyer was lucky to spend 10-30% of their weapons value on optics.

IRR ? Man you must of had fun in that , finished 8 years of it in '99 . Could figure out why as a ATC (35D) they kept assigning me to an ordanace battalion . I would really like that Schmidt and Bender with the HK mount but its outside of my price range .

IRR ? Man you must of had fun in that , finished 8 years of it in '99 .

I did 10 years of Active and NG service combined, and have been in the IRR since '92. The only thing the IRR had did for me is promote me!
But with all Uncle Sam has invested in my training, I will stay in the IRR until they don't need my old wrinkled ass.

Nice glass there. Just so you know, some Americans do give optics the attention they deserve. I have more into optics than rifle on the 700PSS.

Of course, I did try the Leaper/AR15 combo first and learned my lesson...

How else do you thank someone taught you discipline and showed you how to take over small towns, blow up buildings, devise insidious booby-traps, and generally kill things?

If it's anything like the Hensoldt I have (looks exactly the same, and is also a 4x24), then it can be had for about $400 including the claw mount.

I don't know about the foreign stuff, but that Colt scope is pretty common. Those are about a dime a dozen.

I'm feeling generous.

I'll give ya' $50.00 for it.

(okay, seriously they sell for between $150.00-$200.00, sometimes more.)

While I value everyone's opinion, I think you might be referring to the Colt 4x scope. The 3x scopes are early SP1 days and were always a little difficult to find in the 80's and 90's when I was selling arms. I always had the 4x scopes NIB in stock as they were easily ordered from distributors.

Yeah, I guess I haven't really looked in a while. I have recently seen like new in box Colt 3X for about $225.00 though.

NIB will, as you know, bring a premium.
