a buddy of mine has come across a potential "deal."

$1000.00 for what is being described as a Colt preban "Sporter" rifle.

saw it today, and it does appear to be in great condition, with authentic Colt markings, etc.

my question is the following: can someone verify the serial number information for me?

this model is "full size" ...no bayonet lug..
and the standard buttstock.

just want to make sure it is indeed preban.
any suggestions on fair market price for this piece?  if no bayonet lug or telescoping stock, is it worth paying for the preban, other than potential investment?

It's a pre-ban.

The value would be $1200-$1500 depending on condition and if in original configuration.

Have your budy buy it. He can resale any original Colt parts he replaces, like the stock.
