Yes I know a silencer will have the ATF knocking on the door with handcuffs, but is
there a way to have a muzzle brake but not the
extra noise ? Most muzzle brakes deflect the
gasses (explosion) back toward the shooter,
why can't the gasses be aimed away from the shooter ?

well, with a brake, it blows the gasses either at about a 90 degree angle from the muzzle, or back at an angle.  If you diverted the gas any more forward than 90 degrees, it wouldn't reduce recoil, would it?

What I think might work tho, is cut a hole in a board, and stick your muzzle through that.  Thus the sound comes back and is deflected off of the board.  :)

Check out Tapco, they sell a bunch of sleeves for M-brakes that are supposed to allow gas to vent in the right place to reduce recoil.

Don't know if this cuts noise, but it deflects the blast up and away from the shooter and bystanders.  Just what you need for a 50.

Hehe, the person who posted it on BH said it weighed something like 160 pounds.
