Take this for what it's worth--my opinion. I AM a CCW holder. I have had one for almost 2.5 years. I initially got one because I guess I wanted to"play by the rules". In the time since, my feeling about CCW has changed. First, one of the main advantages of carrying concealed is that nobody else has to know, however--here in Arizona, failing to disclose that you are carrying and a CCW holder to law-enforcement in ANY encounter can get your CCW suspended or revoked.
Second, and I will reference a Supreme Court ruling--
Supreme Court decision: The U.S. Supreme Court broadly and unequivocally held that requiring licensing or registration of any constitutional right is itself unconstitutional. --Follett vs. Town of McCormick, S.C., 321 U.S. 573 [1944]
Now many will happily chime in that concealed carry is not enumerated in the second, but ANY infringement of the RKBA is an infringement, period.
Had I to do it all over again, I would NOT have gotten my CCW. I carry every day, everywhere, and would do so even if I had no CCW permit.
There you go, my 2 cents.
