What are you guys using to clean weapons you rattlecanned? I'm assuming that most gun cleaning sprays will strip the paint...

I've been neglecting my AR and after running some wolf thru it, it finally started FTF. Figure it's about time to clean and lube.

I'm usually all about some hot water and dishsoap, but that 20" upper doesn't fit in my kitchen sink very well

I don't.

I lube parts and clean the barrel.

I haven't sprayed the working parts of my AR, so I typically don't worry about stripping the paint off.

Seriously though, I haven't used any of the fancy spray cleaning solutions.  A relatively clean rag to wipe down the bolt carrier group components, run a bore snake through, and q tips to clean out the inside of the upper works pretty well for me.  I have not had issues with the lube leaking out the sides and eating away too much at the paint job, either.  There is some signs of wear, but those will show up anyway if you use it at all.

Ah, makes sense.

Once I started reloading, I stopped shooting steel.
