Hey guys, I have a favorite watch that I wanted to refinish the band on. I'm looking to do it in flat/matte black. Any suggestions, I would like something that will hold up fairly well.

Thanks, and of course any pics any of you might have of watches you've done would be very cool to see.

Thanks again gents.

Most metal watch bands are stainless base metal. Robar and others do blacken stainless but I don't think it would be durable enough in a watch band. That type of refinishing would require it to be stripped down to each individual link and pin which sounds like an expensive job. The spray on finishes would also wear quickly, be difficult to apply uniformly and look cheesy.

Check out Caswell Plating and the forums. They have some DIY kits. The plug and play kits require usually a zincate (or other) treatment first.
