Anyone know how well paint, aka Gun-Kote, bonds with a black oxide finish? I know that parkerizing one of the best finishes to paint over (according to Brownells).

If you grit blast first the Black Oxide finish will be gone anyways.

Phosphating (AKA Parkerizing) is porous so it can help with adhesion.  Black Oxide is just a very thin film of oxide - not porous at all.

I hadn't planned on grit blasting just dipping into black oxide and then painting directly over, it's how I've always painted over park

Babe - if it is already parked then just degrease (at LEAST twice) and paint it already!  Park is an excellent, porous base for just about any additional coating.
