I bought some old preban mags at a gun show for $4 each. They didn't work good the springs were shot and they had the black followers.

The first thing i did was bead blast the old finish off.  Then did type II anodizing and dyed it black for a base.  Then I used Brownells Black Moly-teflon. I coated the inside and out side with the moly-teflon. The spring, follower, and baseplate were replaced with Magpul rebuild kits.

I put two coats of Moly-teflon on the mags and they fit the mag well perfect.

The mag to the right is what the other 4 mags looked like.

DrJWelch,

How'd you prep you mags prior to spraying?  Soap/water?  Scotchbrite?

Thanks,

Scott
