BNVD-UL /w battery pack from JRH - ordered 5/14/20, received 7/10/20. Was quoted 4-6 weeks lead, but told Robert I'd be okay waiting a little longer for good tubes. Glad I did.

Just ordered a set of Single Gain BNVD's with the XLS White Phos tubes from JRH. Robert is VERY transparent about the quality of these tubes when ordering, I think even more so than needed! He certainly makes sure you are aware of the quality of these tubes, so you don't expect some filmless L3s to show up.
Once I get mine in, I will certainly give a review on them. Very happy with Robert and JRH, absolutely can not beat the price for some articulating dual tubes. I'm sure some people want much higher quality out of their tubes, but these will be plenty fine for me, and i'm sure most people. |

Quoted: I don't think these exist... The GSCI PVS31C isn't a US milspec housing in any shape way or form, and since it's Canadian, it's tailored to countries who can't get US made housings (real PVS31s, RNVGs, BNVDs, etc) due to ITAR. Because of that, the tubes that are offered are also not made in the US; they're typically offered with Photonis, Harder Digital, or Russian Katod tubes. Why not just get DTNVGs or BNVDs with L3 WP tubes? Why the GSCI housing? View Quote I’m almost positive Steele Industries is selling the 31C. I think it’s a more affordable option vs the dtnvg. View Quote Yeah, so apparently my info is a little old and didn't take into account COVID delays and the insane demand in the market (thank you for the heads up Augee). GSCI used to be pretty much only found in Canada, Europe, and Asia (okay, so everywhere else in the world except the US) due to ITAR issues with everything else but I guess since there's a shortage of everything night vision right now, vendors are buying their housings and sticking tubes in them. I still think the vast majority of options are superior if you can find them in stock (except AGM, they're about the same as GSCI). There's a reason you're paying more for other housings, and in night vision, you tend to get what you pay for. I wouldn't go as far to say their build quality is "bad", just as I wouldn't exactly say AGM build quality is "bad". But it's not up to par with other manufacturers producing milspec components or proven housings. Also, don't get sucked into it just cause it says it's a "PVS31"-C; it's got nothing to do with PVS31s. I'm kind of surprised that L3H allowed them to use that name but it might just be that they're too insignificant to bother with. |

Just curious if the others are worth the extra scratch when the L3 tubes are the same. View Quote It's nothing I can quantitatively substantiate. The build quality of the housing feels subpar compared to a DTNVG and the glass is objectively worse. While it boasts quite a feature set including autoshutoff upon pod rotation or flipping up the unit, the one I had previously tried had some issues with both being somewhat unreliable. The owner of the device and I also had some problems with the battery, battery compartment, or power supply that caused flickering (although that may have been due to the temperature we were using it in as it was well below -20 degrees Celsius which is -4 degrees Fahrenheit). It may have been the individual unit, I'm not sure, but having those issues is indicative of build quality and quality control in my opinion. |

Well last night was a good night - received my first ever NVD and looked through night vision for the first time ever. Absolutely amazing. The family and I didn’t put it down all night. We were blown away. This will be greatly enjoyed and I see more in my future.
I ordered a GP PVS-14 (blem) from USNV. Very very happy with the outcome and wouldn’t second guess going with the blem model for one second given the savings. Who would have guessed the PVS 14 illuminator can temporarily damage your unit? I wondered what that little red light meant :) I could be wrong but I suspect I could turn on the illuminator and leave it on for a couple hours pointed at a wall and not damage my unit. That isnt the issue at all. That patteren was there the second I first turned on till I sent it in almost a month later with about 8 hrs of use. I have no doubt that JRH will either say my unit is fine or make it right if not. |

NVD would not let a tube leave the factory like that way. The IR illuminator onboard, if activated close to a semi reflective surface like a painted wall, will absolutely cause some temporary artifacts in some tubes especially if it is already a light sensitively one. Either way Robert and NVD will take care of you. |

As I used my scope I could see the large scale shading and an image line running thru the occular. The shading is 8 pm to noon and the line from 4 pm to noon. I sent the pics below to Robert @ JRH and he sent them to his tech which agreed there may be an issue and issued an RMA and I was thankful for his quick and honest reply. The scope was shippid to NVD and received 10/14. Robert said I should expect at least M-F or 5 business days to hear anything as they are swamped. I haven't read of anyone using the warranty process so I thought this may be useful. The pics are enclosed. https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/411635/Outside_pic_jpg-1638725.JPG https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/411635/whitewall_Illuminator_jpg-1638724.JPG Received an email from Robert today and was issued a warranty for my tube. It appears the line was the main concern. They are sending me a new tube with a much better EBI and slightly better spec's for which I'm appreciative. The warranty worked and they stood by their product 100% and was done in a timely matter. I would reccomend using JRH for any purchases and I appreciate his timely communication and swift attention. |

Just found this thread now that I'm able to spend time in the NV forums....
Picked up a PVS14 GP ultimate kit from USNV, ordered 9/9, delivered 9/29. Halo .9 EBI .99 Center Res 64 SNR 28 I'm impressed, no blems to speak of. Only thing I think I'd like to upgrade is possibly switching the j arm and mount to a dovetail system that isn't a plastic j arm. A slight bump to the bayonet mount release causes it to disconnect, but I don't know what I don't know yet. |

Felt/looked like I had drunk simulator glasses on that are used in drivers ed. Before panic set in too deeply took a gander at the manual. Yeah. Diopter adjustment. Kind of a big deal. Sharp images, very bright. I’m happy. Plastic J arm is about as rigid as a wet noodle. Will upgrade ASAP. |

Took a chance and ordered from Dvor for my first ever PVS14, even though I know they're Optics Planet. They were selling Elbit thin filmed WP for $2900. Ordered September 28th and recieved today, so not super terrible.
Specs are Sensitivity: 2349 Halo: .9 EBI: 1.16 Res: 72 S/N: 32 From what I've been reading, everything is pretty decent except for the EBI. Took them out last night in open fields and it was seriously mind blowing! |

Buddy and I both ordered PVS-14s L3 unfilmed WP from N-Vision Optics on October 7th, I called before ordering and was quoted 2-3 months for delivery, but got the shipment notification on the 20th, and both were delivered on the 26th. Both have zero blemishes. I feel like these tubes were meant for a bino for a previous order that was canceled because the specs are incredibly similar. It was disappointing to see 3 other PVS-14 specs from N-Vision ordered a few months prior with SNR >35 and 72lpmm Resolution and then get ours at ~31 SNR and 64 lpmm. I won't have a chance to look through them till December so I'm just over-analyzing the specs from afar, and I should be satisfied with them.
My specs and his specs: Photocathade Sensitivity: 1997 / 2031 Luminance Gain: 69539 / 67551 FOM: 1977.6 / 1964.8 Resolution: 64 / 64 SNR: 30.9 / 30.7 EBI: 0.2 / 0.3 HALO: 0.7 / 0.8 |
