Not sure exactly what all the numbers mean for comparison purposes yet but JRH experience was a good one.

2. Quoted wait time vs actual wait time: Owner on FB said one day turnaround and shipped same week.  Ordered 9/7/2020, shipped 9/10/2020 and received 9/14/2020 via USPS Priority Mail (Signature required)
3. Specs on tubes:

This is from the USB I got included with my unit
DTNVG with L3 unfilmed GP 22ua/um
FOM: 2125/2054
SNR: 33.2/32.1
Res: 64
EBI: .2/.2

EDIT:

https://imgur.com/XbZ1sHw
https://imgur.com/MHj8Gba

(not sure how I did, they seem pretty good specs.  to my eye, there is a blem in zone 3 on my L tube but otherwise nice and clean. but kinda sucks since I'm L eye dominant but in practice, I don't notice it too much).

4. Overall impression of said vendor

They were quick to turn around and it was nice to see the IG team and owner on social media/email with quick contact.  I went on a whim to purchase from them because they had a labor day sale going on for 8K (I figure I could forgo WP for GP as long as they were good spec.  It was this or buying from another vendor and spending 1k more for RNVGs L3 unfilmed WP 20ua/um).  Overall, the unit arrived quick and in one piece.  Everything seems in order, these are my first NODS so feedback on the specs would be cool).  Some gripes:  Packaging could be better - I thought I would get at least a cheap hard case to protect them but they just shipped in a soft pouch with bubble wrap and peanuts.  I never got a shipping email which kinda bugged me - I only knew they were coming because I use USPS informed delivery.  The owner said hand select would be extra (the normal price of the unit with tubes).  Would I recommend them in the future? - maybe; if the price is right and if I have good customer service/warranty work should I need it.

Those are good specs, they are what I consider above average. the OMNI classification table is tacked at the top of the night vision forum, there you can see OMNI 8 specs which are the current minimums for the military contract.

your tube specs are much better than the contract specs. if I HAD to be nit picky about anything I would like the resolution to be 72.
but you have really good SNR and a great EBI.

TNVC breaks down what each spec means on their website, but essentially EBI is how well the tubes will perform in very dark conditions with no added IR light.

Ive seen lower spec tubes with an excellent EBI look better in extreme dark conditions than high spec tubes with a higher EBI. But you have the best of both worlds, I would be very happy with those.

Appreciate your business thank you! Did about six months worth of business in the latter half of June and the same in early July, so I appreciate you sticking with the longer lead times and my apologies for the tube delays from Elbit.

No apology necessary.  It was worth the wait and you did give me an alternative which I chose to stick it out.  Thank you

Not sure you would notice the resolution difference at 1x. Maybe side by side...

Yeah I specifically asked for 64res tubes as they called for less of a premium. My 2176 fom tubes will look the same to me as someone elses 2448 or 2754 tubes afaik. Would be curious to side by side a tube with very close other specs to compare 72 vs 64. Just for personal experience, but I generally have not great eyes so I think Im about at my limit.

Ordered from TNVC: June 22nd 2020

Quoted Time for MAWL 8-12 Weeks / L3 UF RNVGs 12 Weeks.

Card charged 6/23/2020

Delivered Sat 9/19 (shipped 9/18 - a few days after 12 Weeks). I requested some specifications; TNVC knocked it out of the park. Requested 34 SNR/ 72LP/M Under .8 Halo and EBI.

Jacob called me on Friday to say he had not seen the 34SNR requirement, and he had them already built. When he said what the EBI's were, I was like, nope all good ship them. I did not ask how long it would take to get the 34 SNRs.

As to the MAWL, it came in a sealed box that was inspected by someone at BE MEYERS with a born on date of Aug/20 so about as brand new as one can expect.

AB Nightvision RNVG L3 UF Two Tubes
SNR: 33.8 / 33.7 - Close enough to 34 for me, I have no doubt if I had insisted on it they would have made it happen with a little bit more time.
Res: 72 / 72
FOM: 2433.6 / 2426.4
EBI: .2 / .2
Halo: .6 / .7
Photcathode Sensitivity: 2181 / 2164 - I guess this slightly lower, but doing some reading it appears usually when you get low EBI you usually get lower PCS as well. I'll have to do more research.

Could not be happier. Buy with confidence from TNVC. Id also like to thank Sam for taking the time on the phone to answer some dumb questions about the RNVG before I purchased. Also Jacob for giving me a call 2x on Friday (I sent the unknown CA number to voicemail; whoops!) and for the great customer service on the shipping so I could receive them Saturday.

Ordered on 9/7/20
Would have received on 9/18/20 but was out of town and couldn't sign for it so I signed for it on 9/21/20.
Very pleasant experience with Robert at JRH and the process was smooth.

Ordered a white phosphor HP+ from JRH on July 28th.

Quoted 4-6 weeks.  Less than two weeks later I received an email notifying me that there has been delays in tube deliveries, and that lead times have increased.

I contacted Robert on September 16 inquiring about my order.  I was given the option to be patient, change my order to a Photonis Echo and save about $500, or cancel my order (no charge).

I decided to change my order to the Photonis Echo WP.  It shipped the next day.  Robert didn't charge me shipping.

Tube specs:

FOM: 2182
SNR: 32.08
RES: 68
Lum Gain: 8898
EBI .15 (equivalent to 1.5 on US made tubes, from what I understand)
HALO: .87
Spots:  The image is very clean and I don't see any spots or blemishes at all.

I had a good experience dealing with Robert at JRH.  Communication was excellent, and I think he went above and beyond by giving me the option to cancel or change my order.

This is my first night vision purchase.   So far I am pleased with the unit.  I have had it out a couple of nights and it seems to perform as good as I remember my old green pvs 14 that I used in the Army.

This may be the only night vision I ever get the chance to buy.  Part of me wishes I would have saved more and waited longer and got Unfilmed, but I am poor and impatient, and now I can see in the dark.

One last thing, I was surprised at the color of the Echo.  In a lot of the pictures, it looks kind of blue.  But to my eyes, the image just looks more like black and white.

Finally got my RNVGS in, so here it is
-Tnv-RNVG Unfilmed white phosphor
-Quoted wait: 12-16 weeks
-Actual wait: 13.5 weeks

Requested specs:
Snr: 34+
Ebi: <.7
Res:72+
Halo:<.7

Actual specs:
Snr: 33.9/33.8
Ebi:.1/.1
Halo:.7/.7
Res:72/72
Photocathode:2165/2167
Gain:68703/63612

The right tube has a little bit of peppering and a farrrrrr zone 3 blem with some weird shading around it, but the unit is fantastic. The wait really hurt but the end result is more than worth it. Having the peace of mind of a brand like TNVC behind you is well worth the cost to play. I would and will definitely will do business with them again in the future.

PVS-14 L3 unfilmed white phosphorus advertised as a zone-3 "blem". N-EOPPS-1701 tube.

N-Vision quoted 60+days, product delivered very close to that estimate.

FOM: 2086
Photo sensitivity: 2585
EBI: 0.3
Gain: 63,303
SN ratio: 32.6
Resolution: 64
Halo: 0.6

Only one blem in lower bottom right edge in zone 3, sized .009-.012. No spots in zone 1 or 2.

Service was very good. Girl on the phone warned me of the long wait but I made no specific requests for tube quality and told them I was not in a rush.

@DeuceGoon

In stock. ?????

Elbit RNVGs

Kosher Surplus is g2g and they're actually in stock and ready to ship. I got my new PVS-14 from them.

I don't think the specs are that good, but I'm not familiar with how Elbit tubes are.

Ok I have a question here, I have a basic understanding of tube specs and what the numbers mean and I noticed a lot of people are posting there EBI specs but not there Photocathode Sensitivity specs, so my question is wouldn't a high Photocathode Sensitivity be more important than a low EBI? For example would a tube with a EBI of .5 and a Photocathode Sensitivity of 1800 be better or worse than a tube with a EBI of 2.0 and a Photocathode Sensitivity of 2400?

For example would a tube with a EBI of .5 and a Photocathode Sensitivity of 1800 be better or worse than a tube with a EBI of 2.0 and a Photocathode Sensitivity of 2400?

People love ebi and so do I

Lately photocathode has become more important to me as I want a nice tube for filming through.

Interested to hear others opinions on the matter

From past threads, many of the experts on here have said that the photocathode sensitivity spec isn't that important or even meaningless. I haven't used nearly as many tubes as they probably have to say in 100% confidence whether that's the case or not.

However, the two best tubes I've ever had (both unfilmed) have PS of 2500 & 2763 with all of their other specs nearly identical and the 2763 tube is the clear winner side by side. That's in all lighting conditions but it's more noticeable with more ambient light. It has sharper details and just looks crisper. I've also put the tubes in different devices with different optics to rule out the glass.

If I didn't have both to do the side by side I would never think of the 2500 as being a lesser tube. It's possible that it's not the higher PS alone that's the reason but at least on paper that's the only spec that stands out.

Someone I know had an l3 uf wp tube with a recorded 4.0 ebi that looked as good or better side by side with a 22um l3 mnvd.

Theres no sheet on the 22um 14 ofc, but the photocathode on that 1701 was stupid high.

Thats what sparked my interest.

Just curious how high are we talking? The highest unfilmed I've seen on a sheet was 2900. I didn't get to use it.

My best answer is that it's hard to answer on those two specs alone because the other specs play a role and tubes are unique with their own "personality". Super clean screen cosmetics with lower specs may look much better than below average screen cosmetics with higher specs. Some tubes have more shading or "dirtyness" for lack of a better description.

I recently had the opportunity to compare an Elbit XLSH with 1916 PS & 0.18 EBI against the unfilmed L3H 1701 with 2763 PS & 0.8 EBI, and also against thin filmed ITT F9800TG with Omni VIII level specs (no sheets). The unfilmed has much higher overall specs other than the XLSH's low EBI.

There is definitely a difference in performance but honestly it probably isn't a OMG difference for the typical new user. When I first got into NV every tube was OMG. I didn't start getting really nit picky until I started spending far too much time using them and buying more tubes.

Thanks for the answer, I've been trying to learn a little more about what specs mean and what I ones matter the most,  the tubes in my Sentinels from TNVC have decent specs with the biggest difference being one has EBI of 1.1 and one has EBI of 2.2 and to be honest I can barely tell a difference between them so I was just wondering if PS variation had a more noticable difference then EBI if all the rest of the specs where the same

TNVC sentinels     Left tube       Right tube
       Res.                     72                     72
       PS.                    2779                2626
       EBI.                     2.2                    1.1
       SNR.                  30.4                  31.7
       Halo.                    .7                      .7

Those tubes are well matched and have solid specs. You probably won't see a difference between the two PS specs. The EBI is higher than most prefer but as you discovered it is one of those specs that is noticeable to some and not others whether real or perceived. FWIW, the PS relates to how well a tube converts light, and the EBI how well a tube can form an image in low light levels. Resolution is also something some notice and others don't.

Your halo is low and matched which is awesome because it's the only spec that everybody will see/notice regardless of their cones, rods, how good their vision is, etc.
