I want to hunt coyoytes on my property with a compound bow under nods. What would be the best method of aiming IR laser on the bow? Anyone ever tried this before?

No experience but in for discussion. I’ve had the same idea, though it seems like it would be next level badass if you could get close enough to a yote to get a bow shot.

I wonder how long it is before someone tries this, catches the string on their NODS, and sends $10k+ flying halfway across a field.

Sounds like you have some experience with this, care to elaborate?

I would think a small section of pic rail attached to the riser, near as you can to the plane of the arrow rest. Then a compact IR laser attached to the pic rail.  Optig on a headset, on the left eye (or whichever one is FARTHEST from the bow string).

I bet it would totally work!

I can tell you that back in the 90's I had a PAC-4C mounted to by High Country Royal Hunter. I was using a pair of Litton single tube goggles on a face mask with a battery powered hat light with an IR filter. About the only thing that fell prey to it was coons, possums, and a couple of gray foxes. I always found judging distance at night to be a real bitch.

Seems easier with crossbow vs compound

No point in the compound.  Use a crossbow.

Unless you already have a compound and NV.

Just guessing, but a section of rail mounted to your stabilizer with a red laser might work in a pinch.
