Hello All,
I've decided to create a separate post to address any technical questions that arise related to N-Vision Optics' ATLAS thermal binoculars. I have been thinking about it for a while but an earlier post by terry1 gave me the final push. Below are a few details to start. As always, your questions and comments are greatly appreciated.
1. Core: BAE, 640 x 480, 12 microns pitch, 60 Hz refresh rate.
2. Displays: dual color LCD.
3. Objective: 50 mm F1.2. Manual focus.
4. NUC: two options (user configurable via menu settings). Option 1 (factory default) is automatic shutter with user's ability to force NUC with a push of the button. Option 2 (has to be enabled in System Menu) is Scene NUC that is totally manual and requires the user to cover objective lens. Scene NUC gives better results but is a little bit more cumbersome.
5. Power: 3 CR123 batteries or external USB power.
6. External USB cable is not included in the standard package but is available as an inexpensive option.
7. Taking pictures: yes. Up to 60 images can be taken and viewed on the ATLAS or downloaded to PC (sorry, no Mac or .nix is supported at this time). Image download requires custom USB cable and software that is available on our website.
8. ATLAS is fully waterproof and nitrogen purged. If dropped in the water it will float.
