I have 3 pvs-14's and I understand they're a significant investment, but I feel as though I may baby them too much. It's to the point of OCD. Like I'm concerned about getting a scratch on the housing or worse lenses. Even though it may not hinder the devices ability to function. I don't know, maybe it's just me.

One of the great advantages of the PVS-14 is the sheer number of them out there and the relative ease of repair/finding affordable replacement parts, they're kind of like the AR of the NV game.
The only thing I would worry about really protecting (besides the tube, of course) are the lenses, but a sacrificial lens cap and demist shield can put all those fears easily to rest.
Beyond that, some people baby their guns, too, while some beat the crap out of them--it just depends on what brings you the most enjoyment and pride of ownership. I don't intentionally try to abuse my gear, but what happens to it while use it happens to it, and I don't worry too much beyond that. FWIW, I am definitely a little bit kinder to my NV gear than some of my other gear, because while modern mil-spec devices are pretty sturdy, they're still not necessarily on the level of say an ACOG in terms of sheer durability (and I've broken those, too
